Kartilium is effective in acute and chronic diseases of the joints: arthritis and osteoarthritis based on synovial cartilage damage with secondary changes of the articular surfaces. These diseases are the most common among all the pathologies of the locomotor system and a major cause of disability.

Kartilium has a unique composition of natural substances that can affect the process of inflammation and the condition of the articular cartilage. As part of this composition is standardized root extract of African plants Devil claws (Harpagophytum procumbens), manufactured by Naturex (France), as well as methylsulfonylmethane, manufactured by Eusa (France) – an organic compound which plays an important role in the repair of damaged tissues of the joints.

Due to anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, root extract is widely used in traditional medicine of peoples in South Africa for gout and rheumatism treatment. In Europe and North America is used primarily to reduce the symptoms of arthritis.

Clinical response of Devil’s claw root extract in inflammatory and degenerative diseases of the joints caused by the action of biologically active substances, the main one is Harpagoside. Specially developed technology allows obtaining the Harpagoside extract at a concentration not less than 20% and respectively advancing tenfold it single dose, as compared to other Devil’s claw root extract. It has been proved that such dose of Harpagoside causes the therapeutic properties of the extract.

Experimental studies have confirmed the therapeutic effectiveness of a standardized extract, namely, reducing inflammation and pain; restore range of motion, improving the functionality and quality of life. Composition: 1 capsule contains active ingredients: devil’s claw extract (Harpagophytum procumbens) – 50 mg, methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) – 100 mg.
Excipients: orisil, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, lactose.

Nutritional (food) and energy content (calorie) per 100 g of additives: proteins – 21.0 g, fat – 0 g, carbohydrates – 7.0 g; 112 kcal (469 kJ).

The functional properties of the product are determined by the properties of the active ingredients containing a large amount of biologically active substances (harpagoside, glycoside, MSM), and their ability to enhance and complement each other’s action.

Devil’s claw extract (Harpagophytum procumbens) is widely used in the traditional medicine in South Africa due to its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, particularly to treat rheumatism and gout. In Europe, it is primarily used to reduce the symptoms of arthritis, which is the most common chronic inflammatory disease in the modern society. Like cortisone and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) it reduces inflammation and pain in the joints and connective tissue. The extract contains a large number of biologically active substances: iridoid glycosides, the main one is harpagoside, flavonoids (kaempferol, luteolin), triterpene glycosides, gavinon (garpanogvinon) and carbohydrates. The standardized extract contains at least 20% of the active substance harpagoside that exerts a significant anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity in joint diseases, including those of a rheumatic nature, as confirmed by the numerous studies. Herewith the extract, unlike steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), is practically safe and has no side effects, which is also scientifically proven. The main biological activity of the devil’s claw extract is similar to the action of NSAIDs: reducing inflammation in the tissues of the joints due to inhibition of COX-2 enzyme involved in the development of the inflammatory response; reducing pain, as well as strengthening of the regenerative processes in cartilage tissue with stimulation of hyaluronic acid synthesis. It helps to reduce swelling in inflamed joints, facilitates their mobility. Also it possesses anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and diuretic properties, lowers cholesterol and uric acid in blood.

Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) is a natural sulfur-containing organic compound that plays an important role in the recovery and regeneration of the damaged tissues. It is easily absorbed by the body and helps to maintain the required level of sulfur for biosynthesis. MSM is involved in the cells recovery, promotes penetration of essential nutrients through the cell membrane. MSM has a mild analgesic effect in the joints and ligaments, and it shows the greatest effectiveness in inflammatory joint diseases.

Due to the synergistic effect of the devil’s claw extract and MSM, KARTILIUM™ possesses anti-inflammatory properties, helps to regenerate cartilage joints and restore their mobility. In chronic arthritis it may reduce the necessity to use steroid and non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs, improves joint mobility and quality of life.

 

Recommendations for use.

Administration in acute and chronic joint diseases – primary and secondary osteoarthritis, arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, scapulohumeral periarthritis, osteochondrosis and bone fractures. It is also advisable for administration in order to prevent these diseases at a significant load to ensure the proper functioning of the bones, joints and muscles.

 

Dosing and administration.

adults take 1 capsule 3 times a day 30 minutes before meals with water. Treatment course is 2 months, if necessary, the course may be repeated several times a year. Before applying it is recommended to consult a doctor.
